Dirty Dash-ing

So because my Dear Husband works for a fabulous company, every year for the past 3 years they have sponsored a Dirty Dash team! What is the Dirty Dash? It’s a Mud run that is held at Soldier Hollow in Heber City Utah twice a year. This was the first year that the had a kids team so our good friends (they have 7 kids 4 of them ran) and 3 of our kids ran. I don't do mud or out doors or do I like to exercise, and Book Worm was our Photographer for the day!

But we needed a good hairdo for Baby Mermaid and this one held in really well

 

I started with three pigtails on each side and braided the front and back pigtail, so two braided on each side, middle one not

 

Then we crossed the front braid and the back braid over to the other side and hooked it in with an elastic

 

Braided each pigtail together to make one gigantic braided pigtal  

And then wrapped and megga pinned each bun

and this is what it looked like covered in mud… and a couple of other choice pictures!

swim hair and a trip to the res!

Here is a swim hairdo and a trip to our reservoir (a lake-ish pond that we swim at once a week, all of our family that live all over is always asking what the Res is so here are some pics!)

so I just did a quick smocking in the front the first row is three pigtails the second row is 4 easy

her hair is so short that I did a puffy braid up the back

combined both into a pony tail

and she is ready to swim!

Here are the kiddos on the beach, I use that word loosely as the sand is actually gravel because its quite windy here and when they put down nice sand it blew away! so now its poky gravel!

The secret to our success! the first couple of times we went out we both pumped with hand pumps but now I use the battery powered one and he pumps up the rest with the hand pump it still takes about a half hour to pump it up! LOL

Little Princess swim hair

Here is a swim hair do again! I promise I am almost done with the swim hair! LOL

We just did two dutch braids back and forth across her head to hold her hair out of her eyes

pulled the rest of the hair into pigtails (i was going to do messy buns but got vetoed)

pulled the ends of the braids into the pigtails

and we were off to the pool!

Swim hair again!

Here is a second day of swim hair

we started with a braid right down the middle, I was not as careful with the parts cause it is only going to last a half hour and then we are going to wash it!

three braids now! oh and that's paint on my pants I promise!

Baby Mermaid's Swim Hair

We have swim lessons for our 2 youngest kids this week! So you know what that means! Swim Hair! I think that if I am paying that much for lessons, I don't want them to worry about their hair in the eyes flipping hair around etc. so get ready for a couple of posts on braids messy buns and updo's.

I did three dutch braids back and forth across her head

Then I pulled the rest of her hair up into pigtails and then messy bun loops

I really wish I would have made big bows to go swimming with! then I could tell what kid was mine from across the pool, but I haven't yet! LOL only I would want swim bows but y'all know me!

Triple woven french braid?

So For the little princesses half birthday we had a swimming party, so we needed something fancy that would hold up to water, this is what we came up with! It looks like a hard do I know but it was quite easy after I figured it out! sorry this is a very long post! and it has lots of pics!So I separated the hair into three sections length wise, Then I separated the center section into six, two across three down, then I french braided the front right piece down to the middle left piece back to the bottom right piece, then braided the hair all the way to the ends.

Here is the top view then we just repeated the other side

so here is the middle section all done! we went left right left instead of right left right! then I sectioned the hair on the sides just like I did in the middle and braided them out the same way

Here is the left side and the center done, now, on to the right!

Here is the first braid on the right side, I wove it the same way I did the center one! I know it looks complex but it was really very easy!

all the tails I braided them down as far as i could

all the tails braided together!

then I tucked the tails up in a elastic to make a loop.

Second day puffy pigtails, Little princess hair still looked pretty good so we thought that we would spice it up a bit, we parted the hair down the middle to make pig tails and then sectioned off the front 2 pieces so this made 2 little pigtails, then I sectioned off a little piece of the pigtails and braided them back, crossed them and hooked them into the next pigtail, Here is a pic of me hooking the second braid across, OH and thanks Baby mermaid for our great photography!
