A Quickie Update

K, After we got the Kitchen Painted our light fixture was not my favorite. It was kind of tanish blah, just not in love, I liked the shape and the detail, just not the color so… Welcome can of spray paint. Now we have lived in houses with the great gold fixtures, you know the polished brass of the 90’s and it is amazing what a little can of Silver spray paint can do. But i was afraid that the silver would not give me the little bit of punch I wanted from The light! So… We brought out the black. My Sweet husband vetoed the turquoise/teal color I was leaning to!

So here is the before view, notice we didn’t put the cover back up, because I was sure we were going to paint or replace, but as far as bones go, I kind of like it!

So Brian took it apart and washed it down, its in the kitchen so it is grease-tastic, and we all know that paint and grease are not friends!

Here it is all taken apart still. notice how Brian put a screw in that scrap of wood to hold up the finial?

And this is why we wash things really good, for some reason this little piece kept fish eyeing, even after a good wash with TSP (Tri Sodium Phosphate). so we sanded it washed it again and voila!

A nice new light fixture for about 2.50, and an afternoon. Don’t be afraid to Paint light fixtures, they are really easy and make a huge impact on your home! Just remember to turn the power off first!

Locks of Love…Again!

Well, its that time of year again, that the kids are dying to cut their hair. I always kinda stress inside and hope it does not happen. But my rule is, its your hair you can cut it if you want and today it was Baby Mermaid

I can’t Believe how fast her hair grows! She cut of 12 inches and still has shoulder length hair! I read somewhere that it takes 3 haircuts to make a wig, so here is Baby Mermaids full wig!

First Paint Job!

So, Because we did not get our home that we built, and moved into a new “used” home, LOL. a lot of the paint colors were not up to my standard. lets be honest, old people lived here, and I am sure they loved the plaid wallpaper, we however, did not. I don’t think that a lot of the house had been painted since the early 90’s when it was built, you know when they used that pinkish white instead of white? well our house was beige-tastic! But we are Banishing the Beige and doing some other fun stuff! so come along on our first home makeover project of the new year!

I wish I would have taken before pictures before we moved in but we were so excited, and we didn’t get the key till 3pm.. we just started bringing stuff in as soon as the key was in our hands..

DSC_0003So this is our Before pic, see what I mean about pinkish beige, I LOVE dark colors, and this was just not doing it for me. I was exited about the chair rail, but I wanted it to divide something not just the wall. so we picked out a light and a dark gray for the main area’s of our home The light gray was Behr Pewter Mug. and the dark was Behr Dark ash

DSC_0005 Here we are with the dark ash going up, I am in love with it against my red leather couches!

Our cute little piano by the front door. (that is getting a makeover soon)

View from up on the stairs.. I am loving it! We Have a surprise on the 4th wall that is why I was careful to cut of the pictures so you cant see it until next time..

So, I tried these back in August, and anyone who reads my blog knows that August was erased from my memory. I wish! Needless to say I was under tons of pressure and stress, and normally my skin shows that. I know when my period is coming because I get a huge-o zit right by my mouth, every time, even though I have really clear skin most of the time. My Skin was amazing when I took these everyday! I was impressed I didn't get my great big zit.. I didn’t have any break outs with my stress. It was AMAZING!

This Book was Amazing, It had great pictures and step by steps.. My girls have loved using it learning new braids! I love to read almost as much as doing hair. I love hard back books, (even though I mostly read on my Kindle now) I dislike the cheep feeling of Paper back books. While this book is a “paperback” it has a very high quality feeling. The pictures are nice and glossy. Its a great book for the Braid enthusiast, a beginner, or just to set on your bathroom counter to remind you about all of the different braids available. LOVED the book. would totally purchase a copy!
